I read somewhere that some programs give eye exams to prospective residents to check their vision, including their color vision. I can imagine where this might be an issue in diagnosing certain retinal diseases, but most people would be surprized at how uncompromized deuteranomalous (most common type) or protanomalous vision really is.
I have also talked with some residents at programs which do not care about color vision.
Any facts or opinions on this?
