There is a thread that someone wrote in regards to scoring low in the diagnostic exam. Can someone kindly tell me what is a diagnostic exam and how I can obtain a copy? Please someone share your feedback on what entails a diagnostic exam. Thanks!

No one here knows about this diagnostic exam? C'mon!! Is it something you get while signing up to take the DAT? Is it the "tutorial" that the ADA provides along with the DAT? Is it the free exam offered by Kaplan? Is it an old exam that science committees have for pre-dental students? Is it from the topscore?

I'm sure one of you knows, please share your knowledge.

from what i understand the diagnostic exam is a free test offered by kaplan. you can check the kaplan website for a testing center in your area & when they offer the test. don't be surprised if you score low though, since kaplan wants you to pay big $ to take the course

I agree, Kaplan just wants your money. Don't be fooled into thinking you need to take the course. You can do awesome without it. However, I hear they have some great resources you can utilize if you do take the course. Is it worth $1,000? People will argue both sides.

the diagnostic test doesn't say much, it isn't a full length test.. the pat, reading and math are shorten.

I believe that some books provides complete practice exams which I think is more beneficial than those diagnostic exams given by Kaplan. In the books that provide practice exams, they usually include answers as well as grading guide, so that you can see how you did on it. What's also great about it is that you can usually find these books in the library so that you don't have to buy them!

On of these books with complete exams (2) is:

How to Prepare for the DAT-Dental Admissions Test - Richard A. Lehman
