I dictated my first admit today. it was brutal... i see my attending do it and it looks like such a breeze. grant even though it was psych and When it was my turn, it took me about 40 min...organizing my info and having to write it down took an ass load of time. anyone have a mental template they can share to make this process more efficient?

Hi there,
Many places have templates that they want you to use for your dicatation. If not, print out or copy your attending's admissions note and make your own template. Dicatation is all about practice so the more you do it, the more you won't need that template. Until then, keep dictating and keep practicing. It took all of us a long time to learn dictation. After my first month of internship, I could rattle off a discharge summary is less than an minute.
