Did anyone else get the UCI Alternate List email?

It was sent sometime this morning. If everyone got it, then it really means nothing to me.

I don't know for sure, but I'm hoping so. UCSD says they take people as spots open up, then make a "Summer Alternate List" beginning in June. I hope UCI is just asking people who wants to stay in for consideration before they fill those spots that opened up.

Your suggestion sounds more reasonable to me. Why would you go through the hassle of reviewing ALL of the files if you don't even know if they're interested?

Hmmm, that thread also says that the guy knew which third of the waitlist he was on. I wonder if e-mailing Dr. Peterson will let us find out too? I mailed a letter of interest yesterday, so I'll be e-mailing her in a couple days to confirm the receipt of the letter and also to ask if I can find out my ranking.

Hey guys! I was also put on the alternate list today, so I emailed Dr. Peterson to see if I could get any more info. She told me that I was in the upper third of the list and to expect an email from Gayle Pierce confirming this within "the next few days". So I assume everyone on the alternate list will be getting these emails by the end of the week. I wonder if she will tell us more specific rankings, other than what third we are in. It looks like it is going to be a long wait. 🙄

That was from last year's thread. I thought it was unranked too, but I guess I just assumed that; nobody had ever really told me anything. I'll definitely let you know if/when I find out. I would just e-mail her now, but I want to have a little more substance to my correspondence so that I don't just annoy her.
