Did anyone stick with T.H.E this year?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
just got off the phone with T.H.E
They still don't have a date for this years disbursements.
The rep mentioned Aug. as a possibility but they are still in the process of setting up meetings.

I'm giving them 2 weeks and then jumping ship. None of the other lenders at my school are having issues this year...and my rent isn't paying for itself 🙂

they apparently don't enough funds built up yet(there's a certain required amount) to lend. I jumped ship. Seems ridiculous.

thanks for the replies.....I really don't want to go with another lender, but need to start paying bills soon.

"Funding Update from T.H.E. - August 5, 2008

Now that August 1 has come and gone, we at NorthStar are extremely disappointed that our Total Higher Education Loan Program is still unable to secure funds through ECASLA (the Department of Education’s plan) or any other source in order to disburse FFEL loans. Unfortunately, the potential alternative we mentioned in a previous update is not viable at this time.
In spite of this delay, we are expecting to participate fully in ED’s loan program as soon as it’s up and running. As you may know, they are still in the process of establishing the necessary logistics (e.g., custodians, warehouses) that will allow lenders to access loan funds.
We hope to make loans available in late August, based on ED’s latest estimates. As soon as we know more, we’ll give you another update.
We greatly appreciate the support of all of you who have patiently waited for us to get access to funding, but we know that many of you cannot wait several more weeks. We understand if you need to make other arrangements."

I'm so disappointed.

There is no reason to stay with them. It's not a sound decision. There are better lenders out there.

I know that, and had already switched to Discover before my last post. I just feel like T.H.E is another example of the good guy getting screwed during times like these. (I recently watched the Wal-Mart documentary, which made me a little too hypervigilant 😳)
