Hi everyone

I have two questions about MPJE.

1) I'm going to take several MPJE to apply for jobs in different states.
I wish I don't have to study much for each MPJE. Are the laws of most of states similar or totally different?

2) This might be not a MPJE question but it is related.
Can I apply for any states before I get a license for that state ?
Do I have to get a licnese of the state first and then apply for the state?

Appreciate your help in advance.

When you are done with pharmacy school, you will be ready to take the NAPLEX and MPJE. When you register with NABP to take the NAPLEX and MPJE, you will pick a primary state in which you will take the NAPLEX and the MPJE of that respective primary state. The additional states that you will pick will transfer your NAPLEX scores electronically. When you pass the NAPLEX (based on the date you took and passed the exam), that NAPLEX score is good for up to 3 years. I would HIGHLY recommend that you pick many states as possible due to the crappy economy

In order to get liscensed in the additional states that you picked, you must register/apply with each state's board of pharmacy. It is a timely and rather costly process. The application fees are different for each states. For my states (IL, CA, FL) it is in the range between 150-300 dollars for EACH state. When you apply for each state, make sure you apply through EXAMINATION. *Not* through endorsement. After you apply, and give each state appropiate documents, you will then be EXAM ELIGIBLE to take the MPJE for each respective state

When you are exam eligible to take the MPJE, they automatically get the passing NAPLEX score electronically. After you become exam elgible from each state, you must go back to NABP and apply to take the MPJE exam ($200 per state).

The process of becomming liscensed in different states is very costly, timely, and confusing. First is the cost of transfering your naplex score to each state, then applying to each states board of pharmacy, then paying the actual fee to take the exam, then buying materials to study for the exam! AARRRRRGGGHHH!!!

To answer your questions:
#1 Get liscensed FIRST. You cannot get the job unless you have that liscense
#2 For MPJE, they test you on BOTH Federal and their respective state laws. Get the Federal Laws down, that way you only have to concentrate on the state specific laws.

Thank you kazekage
I thank you so much for your help.

The hardest thing about taking the MPJE for multiple states is keeping the laws straight between states. They all have subtle differences. My best advice is to study one at a time.
