Hi all.

PAT 15
QR 16
RC 22
BIO 20
GC 20
OC 15
TS 19
AA 19

I hit under 16 on PAT and OC. However, I am ecstatic I hit 19 (YAY I'm average). Will this be a significant problem for this upcoming cycle (I plan on submitting June4 and will happily go anywhere I get admitted) or will I have to take this dang test again?

PS. I did hit 16 in OC the first time I took the test, and I know schools get a list of all test attempts...

shoot wrong post

i am on the same boat.. low RC..
what shoud i do

PAT is a tricky one. Some schools weigh it heavily, others don't give a flying f***. Talk to schools you're interested in.

OC isn't an issue I think. Bio is weighed pretty heavily and TS is looked at too, but OC I am not too sure of. Again you'd really want to talk to schools about this. I know some schools have a 17 cut-off.

QR is really not weighed heavily by most schools so you're right in not worrying/caring about that score.

Depending on what school you apply to, you might have to re-take the DAT to bring up your PAT section. Other schools might ask you to bring up your OC section too as it will be needed in Biochemistry and Pharmacology classes.

However, your TS and AA are solid enough. Honestly I would call the schools you want to apply to and ask them for their minimum scores for PAT and OC. I do think you have a shot at a lot of dental schools though!

I had a 16 in Bio (but did excellent in everything else) and I just emailed about 10 schools I was interested in applying to. All but one (NYU) said that the 16 wouldn't be a problem since my other scores were solid. So I would recommend you just email some schools, they were very quick to respond and very supportive/helpful.

I don't want to take another year off because I am already off this year 😳

I guess there is nothing to do but apply and try again in 3 months. I will contact schools and create good list of schools that have no minimum scores. It may help that I am a re-applicant + WICHE.

I am really beginning to understand why some students just go to the Caribbean or abroad elsewhere. The admissions process is way to long and complicated. You can just cut through the BS and start studying what you want to. Unfortunately we can't do that in dentistry (well we could but it would be way too long after IDP).
