does anyone think that schools would find out that i did NOT mention applying to med school and takiin mcat last year?

i have been told by dentists and current dental students that it was NOT necessary to mention it and leave it all out of the application and no big deal.

i know i know. you ask WHY! well i WITHDREW my apps and realized that it was not what i wanted to do. period.

any thoughts would be great. bye now.

don't tell them.. it'll lower ur chances.. cuz it's gonna look like ur comming to dentistry cuz u think it's "easier"

if they find out, you're screwed though... I was honest in my app and so far hasn't hurt me.

yup. that is WHY i am worrried right now. i was really going to put it all in there, but when most everyone told me NOT TO, i obviuosly did not. \

but i think if there is no reason for them to check, then they wont check. i mean really why WOULD they? 🙁

I doubt they'll check, it's just one of those things if I lied about, I would be incredibly paranoid especially during an interview. Just don't let the med school thing slip out while in an interview.

I was in the same situtation. I have applied to med before and I did not mention it in my app (I am pretty sure) but UCLA and UNLV knew about it and asked why I applied and it was very strange for me especially UCLA told me why I didn't talk about it in my personal statement!!!it was a very weird situation. If you took MCAT only then it is ok to say since you can just say I took it to increase my score for DAT! but I believe some schools check it like UCLA/UCSF since their med/dental schools might use some kind of same system. Just be honest and ready about explain it with good reasons. They like honesty.

so they would only know if you applied to their med school. Otherwise, I don't think they would have access to that kind of information.

I am in a BS/MD program and am applying to dental school but I am only applying to one med school since I'm in the program. I dont think dental schools could find out if you took the MCAT or applied to medical school unless you applied to a university's medical AND dental school.

That certification statement they made you sign at the end of the app, it's the catch all that ensures that people are telling the complete truth. That'll screw you over in the end if they find out. One slip of the tongue, and it's hell for you.

It asks in the app if you've ever applied to med school. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT LIE IN YOUR APP, EVER! It's not a bad thing to have applied to med school. It's SO common these days, and as long as you explain your reasoning, you're good to go. Several ppl on this site have been accepted to multiple dental schools with a past med school application!

not entirely true.

i suggest being very upfront and open about your past. as long as you can explain why you have changed from pre-med to pre-dent you are ok.

i applied to med schools, took the mcat, but i told all the schools about it. some schools did not even ask others, like ucla did. it worked out in the end! Go bruins!
