Hello,

To those of you who have passed the summer exam, other than the email from the board, did you receive the board certificate by mail?

Thanks

I'm bringing this up from the dead to ask those a few years ahead of me how long after learning of passing the board exam did you receive your certificate in the mail? Also, for those that have requested certified copies of your board certification from the ABP (the thing they charge a $35 fee for), how long did that take to receive in the mail? Thanks for the info.

ABP charges for certified copies? After paying $2K+ for two board exams? What a bunch of $(#&(#^$)#@.

In fairness to the ABP, mine was only $1800 for AP only. But yes, charged $35 for a certified copy of my diplomate status.

I don't remember needing a certified copy, or even having to show my "original", except to provide a plain ol' non-certified copy. Could be wrong. I mainly remember having to search through all of my boxes from moving to try to find the AP/CP certificate to make a copy from, but I don't -think- anyone demanded to see the "original", which could be just as fake as any copy. It's probably easier to verify credentials online through ABMS/ABP. But, of course, every licensing board &/or employer can have different requirements.

Can anyone remember how long after learning of their exam result did they receive the actual certificate in the mail?

I can't. Either the AP/CP or subspec. Confirmation was on the general order of 4-8 weeks or something, but the actual certificate...gah. By then who knows. I seem to recall receiving some marketing material asking if I wanted it laminated or framed or whatever prior to receiving it, which can substantially slow the process (I think I had one laminated? framed? I don't even know where the originals are right now to check. I made a digital copy of each and put the originals somewhere "safe"...).
