Hi all long time lurker and was wondering if anyone could help me, was hoping someone could give me some feedback on fellowship app this cycle

For background, im an IMG, need visa, from a lower tier university program. I did have to transfer across the country from PGY-1 to 2 to my current program since my old program closed down.., unfortunately it happened late in my intern year and I didn't have better options than the one im currently in at the moment. I had 2 strong letters, a good PD letter, 6 pubs(mostly in low impact journals) and a 2 abstracts in conferences(Non ASCO/ASH). I did identify research as a weak point for my application but its been hard to establish connections/mentors here as the program is mostly clinically focused. I did get 3 more abstracts accepted to ASCO GI this year and im in the process of submitting a manuscript to a journal as well.

My goals are to match into a community/low tier/mid tier fellowship. I realize my CV isn't good enough for academic institutions. I want to practice in community/ semi-academic settings
Im very sorry if I offended anyone with this but to b perfectly honest, I can't see myself doing anything else. I welcome any and all feedback from anyone who can help....

Also, i didn't reach out/post earlier because i had a personal tragedy, im Sorry. Im trying to increase my research output but facing major obstacles due to the nature of my program. Please, im looking for constructive criticism and advice

Another option is to work in a place with an NCORP program (NCI Community Oncology research program).

Ask to meet with the PI or an investigator when you are interviewing for a job (outpatient medicine or hospitalist). Tell the PI that you love oncology and decided not to do fellowship at this time but still want to stay very involved in the world of oncology. NCORP sites are typically EAGER to have physicians be study champions for cancer survivors. You may even be able to become a rostered investigator. NCORP sites also can nominate physicians to be a part of relevant committees. Here is one example:

The NCORP sites can be found here: The NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP)

Good Luck!
