difference b/t alternate and wait list?

is an alternate list the saem as wait list? if not, whats the differece, 🙂

My impression is that an alternate is someone with a very high ranking on the waitlist. Anyone know for sure?

It's a definitional thing that, if schools actually use both separately, would vary at each.

If you're referring to GW, the alternate is the same as a waitlist.

What about OSU? I forgot how they dealt with it.

actually i just talked to GW and they told me that alternate has a higher hold than wait list so yeah there is a difference. i dont know about OSU....
