I know that there is physically a difference, the home study books being black and lumped into 2 main books + Qbook, and the lecture notes that are white with each subject divided into its own book +Qbook.

Is there a difference in content between the two? If so, which is better?

Kaplan gave me a set of their Lecture Notes and they are very comprehensive. Unfortunately they are almost too much, unless you have 5+ weeks to study. I'd probably say they need 6 weeks, plus it says over and over again that they are not supposed to be used for "independent study", but in conjuntion with their lectures where they highlight things.

See the post about the "new study strategy" as I am struggling to get through that amount of material.

I have no clue for the Home Study books.

The 2 black books are organ systems books. One book breaks things into subjects--biochem, micro, genetics, etc, but no path or phys. The second monstrous book is organ systems. So you read about the Embryo, Histo, Anatomy, Phys, Path, and Pharm of the cardiovascular system all at once, etc.

It's personal preference how you like to study, I would assume.

It will be a matter of personal preference. I have both the organ system books and the lecture note books. I personally did not like how pharmacology was covered in organ system books. The physio sections in some of the organ system books were lacking some necessary info. You can walk into a Kaplan center and usually they have those books there for people to look at before you order them. Try that if you can so you can compare before you decide which one will best accommodate your study plan/goals.

I used mostly the lecture note books and the organ system books collected dust.

I used the organ systems books, and was more than satisfied with the content and organization. I thought that it had plenty of pharmacology. I know people who did well using the lecture series too, so like an earlier post says - it just depends on your style.

Which one does Kaplan give its LivePrep students, the Home Study books or the Lecture Notes?
