Besides surgery, what are the differences between the questions in UWorld step 2 and Uworld Step 1 questions (ex more emphasis on drug dossages?)? Would there be any benefit for step 2 in continuing to do particular sections of UWorld Step 1? If so, which sections? 🙂

The focus of step 2 is much more clinical than that of step 1. Drug dosages aren't tested, but diagnosis and management decisions certainly are (what do you do next? what test or diagnostic study is the most appropriate next step? what treatment is most appropriate given certain comorbidities or limiting factors? etc). Much less basic science type stuff. You don't need to hang on to UWorld for step 1 by any means for your step 2 preparation. UWorld for step 2 is categorized by specialty (medicine, surgery, peds, ob/gyn, psych) and is excellent preparation for step 2 by itself.

Step 2 is often less concerned about you knowing general pathology or general treatments.

Nearly half of the questions will ask you for 'the next step.'

Often all the answers are correct treatments in certain circumstances. Step 2 is testing that you know the order and special circumstances.

No drug doses BUT route of administration is tested (i.e. PO vancomycin works for c diff while IV vancomycin doesn't).

I cannot imagine anything from USMLE World Step 1 that is useful for Step 2, assuming (as is the case for American medical students) that you are taking Step 2 after Step 1.

Of course we need the baseline from Step 1, and there were questions on my exam that I had to reach back to Step 1 knowledge (not in the Step 2 review materials). But I do not think it is helpful to go back and specifically review Step 1 material.

Fully agree with this. OP sounds like he/she is just starting 3rd year. Know the foundations from Step 1 knowledge, but there is much less path involved (although sometimes it will help in making a diagnosis). Focus on diagnosis/basic management. Drug dosages are not tested on step 2, but routes are (as mentioned above).
