Difference between wait list and alternate list?

Would someone tell me the difference between being "wait listed" and being on the "alternate list" -- or are they the same?

I was placed on the alternate list at KCUMB and don't really know what that means, what to expect, or what I can do about it. Any suggestions??

you could write a letter of intent, do some EC stuff to boost your app, if you are a student still then you can send them your transcript at the end of the year if you got good grades.
