What are some of the different study guides used to prepare for the DAT? I've heard some of them mentioned before in some of the threads on this forum but can't remember them off-hand. Which ones do you think are the best?

The kaplan one is really good for the sciences...but its PAT is way too easy
Barron's is decent all around but very short.

Just to name a few....
Top Score
DAT Achiever
DAT Destroyer

Without a doubt....Destroyer is the best of the three! There are way more questions + explinations to go along. You don't need to go crazy, but make sure you memorize (and understand-lol) every question from Destroyer. If you do/can...you shouldn't see less then a 20 (at the least) in any subject.

Hi! Did you take prep courses? Or only used these materials to study on your own...DAT Destroyer sounds cool.

I took Kaplan and it was the biggest waste of money in the world. You can literally just buy the book and read it on your own. My teacher had already graduated dental school and didn't remember anything.
That sounds harsh. I guess they had good quizes and test on the website, but overall you can do great without it.

Hmm, ok, thanks! My mom is forcing me to take a prep course since I plan on taking this DAT for my last time, and I guess I can try to convince her to save soem money and I'll be good and "diligent" and work my butt off. 😉 Thanks, Joon!

just dont use KAPLAN's PAT. it's TOOOO cake. i got 30s on all of them but a 20 on the real one.

I say memorize Kaplan and take TopScore seriously.

I ended up with a 24/22/22 that route...but that was just me. Just know the material and go in with confidence!

Barron's served me well. It also came with a CD to practice the computer format of the DAT - that alone was helpful because the perceptual ability tests are much easier in the book than they are on a computer screen.

Personally I think Dat Destroyer was the most helpful by far in studying for the DAT.. I would highly recommend it
