Difficulty making choice...

Any other 3rd years out there having trouble choosing what field they're going to choose? I swear, I have a good rotation, meet some nice people...feel like I could do this or that. I think I make myself more paranoid some of the time, reading posts from people on these boards in different specialties saying how this field is going to die out, that field is so boring, you can't get paid in this field...yada yada yada. I think about it all the time...

Keep in mind that, for the most part, people who say that field X is boring are usually in field Y and therefore are not to be trusted in that particular statement. Field X may be boring for them but perhaps not for you.

Since you appear to have at least half of your core clerkships to go, I wouldn't worry about not having found your dream career yet. It will more than likely become clear soon.

I had a very difficult time. I think it is most difficult for those people who hate everything, but it is almost as difficult for those people (sounds like you and me) who like everything! One suggestion that worked for me was to write a personal statement for each specialty you think you are interested in. Which one is most convincing? Which is easiest to write? There's your answer.
