Hi all,

I am new to this forum and I really appreciate the way each one is helping the other. I came across this site through a friend of mine and am really greatful to her!
Anyway coming to the point,I have scheduled my exam in jan and I had two questions to ask:

1 .I dont have any other form of id other than my passport and an Indian driver's license. I found in the id reqirement part of the nbde test as 2 photo ids. I am not in a position to get a state id or a driver's id due last name problems on my visa and pp. So can I do with these two forms of photo ids or do I need something else? can anyone suggest what I should be doing rearding this matter?

2 .I am still preparing and I am not sure if I will be fully confident giving the exam by jan. I have postponed it twice. I am aiming at 2008 admissions as all the deadlines for 2007 are over or will be over by around feb...so is it still ok if i postpone it again and give the exam by feb? or may be late feb? can i postpone it more than twice? any idea if there is a rescheduling fee?

I will appreciate it if any one gave me suggestions regarding these two problems I am facing!

Thanks!

Akshi, you can postpone it as much as you want since it is computerized.
And since you are going to give this test on 2007, you should make yourself familiar with the new format of Q's. So take a look at the 2004 pilot test format, that how you will be giving your exam next year.

About the ID thing, please call the prometric center directly and ask them if it is okay, but if I were you I wouldnt call , instead just go ahead to the center where you will give your exam and ask personaly, so this way your are 100% sure and in top of that you know the name and the face of the person who said it. I have a trusting issues😀

Well good luck

Hi HIM0098,

Thanks for that! That doubt was on the back of my mind too! I saw in the threads and came to know that the format is going to be changed and a few new topics are to be added! that new topics thing actually scared me! but if I am ready with the rest of the topics by jan,I can do the new ones(if added by jan end) and then give my exam...

That was a wise suggestion about the id! thanks! i will go to the centre and enquire in person..I could manage with just my passport for toefl. since its prometric again,i heard it should not be a problem.

thanks again!

Akshi, do you have any idea what is the new topics about. I mean which subjects are they adding, I couldnt find it anywhere. Thank you

You dont need to worry about your forms of identification. Any person who isnt a us citizen or permanent resident has to present their passport only as their source of identification. Unfortunately, the staff at the prometric centre where my exam was scheduled werent properly aware about this, i showed them my passport and international driver's licence. They dint get content with it coz my passport dint have any field which would require my signature. They said they wont let me conduct the test. I got a bit confused and called ADA right away and the representative assured me that i only need my Passport for identification and nothing else. Then i made that representative talk to the staff at prometric centre who then allowed me to take the test.
About the rescheduling, u can reschedule it as much as u want within a period of 12 months. There is no fee to reschedule. I did it thrice myself.

Hi HIM0098,
There is NO ADDITION of any other subject, ONLY the pattern of the exam is changed from january 2007. If you want to get more informations, you can call the board center at: 1-800-232-1694. Follow the instructions and you can get anything you want. Hope this help and good luck for your result!!! I'm sure you will pass the exam with a great score!!!

Hi MoonSTRuck,

That must have been scary on the day on exam! You handled it very well!
That was exactly the situation I am fearing..but now I am not! as pointed out by
HIM0098,I will go to the centre and check with them and make sure that they accept only my pp and driver's license. I will have the ADA ph no just in case`too! but my pp has both photo and sign..so no prob..🙂 but your experience really is something that people like us needed to know!thanks for that..i am relieved now🙂

Hi mij16

Thanks for that info...🙂 👍

Hi HIM0098,

I have no clue about the new topics! Hope there isnt anything! mij16 has given us a no to confirm..

There is one thing more you could do to stay on the safe side. If u have a credit card along with your signature then u could show that too in case they would ask for a secondary identification. However, passport only would do enough! If the driver's license that u have, belongs to a country other than USA then it wont be accepted. They would only approve of a US driver's license.

So for all the foreigners, the accepted forms of ID would be :-

1. Passport (Primary identification)

2. Credit Card alongwith signature (Not necessary but if one has it then take it along)

3. ADA's No in case of emergency, lol, which is "1800-232-1694"

thanks for that!i have noted that down..i have a credit card too with signature..

Hi mij16

Hi akshi,

You welcome and my pleasure to help you. I'm in the same boat like you. I'm going for the exam in end of february and scared too!!! Regarding the ID's for the board, is better to have two-three of them with you (just in case). As MoonSTRuck said, have the credit card with signature with you, too. If you don't have one, you can go to the Bank of America and open an account with a minimum amount of dollars. The big advantage is they put your picture on the credit card, which is more then sufficient for showing it on the day on exam (and don't forget the passport and your papers, plus the phone # of ADA). Good luck!!!!
