Hey guys,

I was looking up GRE test dates to take hopefully in the end of November but they were all taken. The latest was Nov. 16. And most of the December dates were open. I checked to see the application due dates for the schools that I was interested in (California), and the latest was 12/1. If I took the GRE around 12/1 or 12/2, will grad schools still accept my application? I don't think I will be entirely ready if I do take the test in Nov. 16. I'm all ears guys, also I was wondering if you guys know any other application deadlines and where I can find them. Thanks millions!! cheers

Have you checked all the possible GRE locations you can take at? If not, maybe consider driving out farther to take the test since you have deadlines coming up. Also you said your application due date latest was 12/1 is it the application itself that's due on 12/1? or is that the last day to take GRE? or is it the last day to submit GRE scores? Hopefully it's the 1st two because of 12/1 is the last day to submit scores, then you will have to take it by 11/17 because it takes 2 weeks for your scores to process/send out/become official (takes them awhile to grade essays but you get verbal and math right after the test)

Thanks I will check out further. Hopefully not further than 30 miles. Yes the application itself is due 12/1, so I should take it 2 weeks beforehand for it to process, right? Thanks for all the help greatly appreciated!

It depends on the schools you are applying to. Most schools have a due date for applications but for GRE scores it can be submitted later. I have a similar situation where some of my schools the application is due on 11/15 and 12/1 (i submitted on 10/13 and it processed on 10/31) but the last acceptable date for GREs is later than those dates (I think 12/15 for some of my schools- my due dates ranges since I applied to a lot of schools). I think most likely for the schools you are applying to that's due 12/1 they have a separate due date for GREs. What school is it? PTCAs should have a nice breakdown for you if that helps.

It helps to make an excel chart of all your schools, app due dates, GRE due dates and requirements and such because that's what I did and it makes things so much easier for me instead of going back and forth between the school websites.

I would take it later than 11/17 if your GRE scores do not need to be in by 12/1 since you said you are not ready for it yet. If no choice, just drive farther out. I drove/will be driving like 50 miles out to take my GREs since the place I'm taking it at has open dates that I can go to. Checking ETS website daily helps too because there are people that drop out last minute and spots open up too.

I also ran into a similar issue when it came to scheduling my GRE
I decided to take a kaplan class last minute so I'm retaking the test next week

I was confused because although PTCAS says to make sure your test scores are received by the school's deadline, some schools have listed the same date as the deadline for "last acceptable GRE testing date". So, I emailed the school that was of concern and they told me that if I self report my new scores on PTCAS my application will still be reviewed with the intention that I will send along the Official Scores. (This is a Nov 15th deadline)

Interestingly, another school's deadline was November 1st, but out of curiosity I emailed them and asked if I took the GRE again after November 1st if my scores would be considered. They told me if they receive my scores before they review my application they will consider them, even if I took the test after the last acceptable testing date. (I'm not counting on this, I accepted that my new scores would miss this deadline, but I thought it was interesting) This school also doesn't require that official scores be sent, just self reported on PTCAS.

So I would just send out an email to the schools and ask them when they expect/require official GRE scores to be received by
