:scared: hi friends please reply.

what are the chances for an IMG with a postgraduate 3-year degree in pathology; good scores in all steps; but having no LORs from US professors and no externship in US to get residency in Pathology?
Please jot down a few lines.

Moderate chances at second tier programs

for a direct answer why dont you call the programs you are interested in and find out.

This is where calling programs probably won't give any additional info. All they might say is something to the effect of, "apply and find out" - it's going to be relative to the applicant pool. And really, casting your net wide is all you can do (I don't know what your alternatives are). Every IMG is different. But I think djmd has it summed up about right.

The interview will be important, if you can get to it. I would say it is worth a try. There is a post in the FAQ for IMG applicants too, at the top of the page.

thank you all who have replied.
djmd has given some hope. actually, i am ready to settle even for a third tier program.
yaah has pointed out the weakness. but i don't have any remedy for that.
ucsfbound has hit the core though he sounds rather curt; not blatantly rude but not pleasant either.
deschutes has summarised what everyone has said and also given his view.
thank to all of you again.

as an (american-born) IMG at a pretty decent program, i'll say that from what i'm being told about this year's interview season, it IS more competitive for sure.

i think the biggest weakness in your record is the lack of US LORs.....however, like others said, if you can land a few interviews, you might be able to present a side of you which shows you can integrate into a US program easily. your good USMLE scores will help you get interviews maybe, but on the interview, it's all a level playing field relating to WHO you are and how much you like/love Pathology.

did you apply to eras? how many programs? what type of programs?

cheers
