direct opthalmascope

I hear that the PanOptic is good for poor fixators i.e. children...but that's all I heard as far as why you should get it...

Just get a normal direct. The panoptic was really made for non eye docs to make it easier for them. Hardly ever use a direct, save your money.

Any opinion on which to get: WA, Heine, or Keeler?

Personally, I lean towards either Keeler or Heine, WA feels "cheap" to me (not the old ones necessearily, but the newer lithium handles in the black plastic casing).

Don't waste you're money on the panoptic.

Haha, glad I'm not the only superficial one who doesn't like the black plastic handles 🙂 I think I'm leaning towards the Keeler, they are all basically the same price with our student discount, so I just won't pick the cheapest. Plus Keeler has pink sleeves now and that is just fancy

I used all the different brands the students had when I was a resident 2 years ago. The lithium Keeler equipment is still the best.

I purchased the Heine Beta diagnostic set and I love it. The direct has optics that eliminate glare and as far as the Pan Optic goes they have an adapter that allows you to use a Pan Optic head on a Heine handle. I know that this is something that the other companies didn't offer.
