disability forms

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just a student, but what I've seen attendings do in this situation is flat out refuse to do them. They explain that it's their policy to not do those forms, and tell the patient to contact their lawyer for a recommendation of who to use (apparently many lawyers have their go-to doc's who do their disability stuff).

I hate those things.
My attending in residency only filled disability form from social security and for stablished patients who came regularly.
Otherwise refused. " no way in hell" she said. man I miss her!
She had no block on that tongue of hers!

"Everything I know about the patient is detailed in the medical record. Anything else would be pure conjecture on my part."

Write this in the comments section and you're done, if you choose to even take the form in the first place.

These forms are also obviously written by non-clinical pencil pushers. I cannot tell you how many times I have had these forms filled out and had them sent back. What a waste of time.

The worst part is that the people who I think deserve disability always struggle and then I see patients who I have no idea why on earth they are on disability and they get it with ease. 'Merica! Gotta love our system
