I was wondering if anyone had any experience with purchasing disability insurance as a medical student.

I've heard it's mandatory at some schools. Can anyone tell me how much it costs and what the coverage is like?

It will probably run less than $20 because the max most carriers will write on Med Students is $1500 per month of benefit.

If you become disabled, the disability insurance pays you monthly. In this case it's $1500 a month. Typically this benefit stops at age 65.

Correct, it probably is about $20 per month for that benefit.....depending on age, gender, and state of residency those can vary the rate by a few dollars per month..
