So...I'm crazy about getting into a Texas dental school. And as honestly as possible.

To be eligible for SPEP, one must have a history of overcoming adverse circumstances, and I was wondering if I would qualify under the following:
-single parent family
-low socioeconomic status
-1st generation in college

My biological parents are divorced, claimed low income on federal taxes, and did not attend college. Coincidentally, my real father is a resident of Texas. On the other hand, I'm Asian American, and I've been living with my aunt (received an AS degree at the same CC I'm going to and filed $63,700 on this year's taxes) and grandma (I must always be home when I don't have class to take care of her..although she hasn't been constantly suffering extreme pain yet).

Should I apply or not? Would me not working nor participating in EC activities and research make me a bad applicant nonetheless?

Asian? Don't bother. Im not even joking. Low socioeconomic status and first generation college won't matter.

Unfortunately awesometeeth is correct. Your Asian heritage will not be so useful for SPEP.

Still, I would apply. Best of luck. I always admire those who come from nothing to become something.
