Hi all,

I'm a rising junior and had a quick question. My freshman year I got in a little bit of disciplinary trouble, I downloaded a movie illegally. There was no action taken against me, it was more of a warning, but a violation of student conduct nonetheless. I was wondering how I should expect this to affect my applications. My GPA is a 3.76, my science GPA a 3.82, and my MCAT a 37. Also my soft factors are good, not great.

Thanks in advance.

I would expect it to only be a minor issue.

Contact the school administration and ask them if this needs to be listed on AMCAS under institutional actions, if not, then good.

If you need to list it, briefly explain that you were caught downloading a movie. It's not a big deal. Most people do or have done this, and it shouldn't be a deal-breaker in any way.

You most likely have to list it on your amcas (i'm not sure of the exact rules), but if you explain the situation to each school and what you learned, then it shouldn't be a big deal. I've heard much worse.
