I am about to submit my primary to AACOMAS and have taken the old version of the MCAT. I am not thrilled with my score and am studying for the new test to take in July but unless I feel that I can definitely score better I will cancel my test date and stick with my current score.

Since I am so undecided about whether I am going to actually retake and want the benefit of applying early in the cycle my plan was to apply to schools that I am competitive for now and add more schools later if by some chance I do better on the new test. I will then update the schools I have already applied to as well.

The issue is, I don't want the schools I am currently applying to to wait for me to take the new test because if I don't wind up taking it they will be looking at my app later in the cycle for no good reason. I am planning to NOT disclose that I am signed up for another MCAT to these schools. Is this okay to do? If I am technically signed up, will that info be reported to schools if I don't personally disclose it?

If I am forced to disclose that I am signed up I will most likely cancel my registration and then sign up again once my primary is submitted.

Schools do NOT wait for you to take the test. Your app will be ranked according to your stats. If your MCAT were super low, it might mean a reject, or simply going to the bottom of the pile. Then, when you update (with a better score), it gets dusted off, and higher up the pile you go. This is, at least, what my wily old Admissions Dean tell me.

Thanks for the reply! So what would you recommend I do?

Goro, what would you say about the same situation for AMCAS? I am in the same situation as Ducky8989, have a score, but know I can do better. I am not ready to retake this Friday. What do you think about submitting to AMCAS by June 25 and retaking in July? 29 - 9, 11, 9 is my first score.

I think you will be ok.

I just got my official score--it is too low for comfort. Would it be smart of me to send in my application today without any scores, and then later in the cycle post my first (low attempt) and new second attempt which hopefully will be higher?
