I am not applying to dental school until next cycle which is why i donèt know this but I was wondering if someone could tell me how I am suppose to distribute my LORs once I receive them...which of the following options happens

A) The person writing the reference (eg. a dentist) sends the LOR to all the schools I am applying to

B) I receive the LOR from a dentist and then I personally distribute the LOR to all the schools I am applying to

C) I receive the LOR from a dentist and submit it through ADEA and then let them distribute it.

Thanks!

Check to see if your school offers a pre-health committee letter. If so just meet with pre-health adviser to start your file early. Then just send all your LOR to them.

If not use a service like interfolio.com, though it is just my opinion, school may not consider your LOR if you handled them in any way. There are numerous post that you can search SDN about interfolio.

whether you use interfolio.com, keep the letters at hand, have your writers hang on to them, or use your school's committee.... All of those options must be submitted to AADSAS when you apply. AADSAS will distribute them to schools.

i dont understand this interfolio buisness...what is it? Why do I hand my LORs into some service if I will just be handing them into AADSAS. My school is Canadian so we don't have pre-health committees...

can someone just tell me if this is the correct thing to do concerning LORs in the application process lol. when i receive a LOR I will keep them until it is time to apply. I will then submit them electronically to AADSAS which will them distribute them to the respective schools I wish to apply?

you don't have to use interfolio... as matter of fact, many people don't use it.... When you fill out addsas, there is a LOE matching form, if you select "electronic" instead of "paper"... all you'll need to do is supply it with your professors Email address, and the professor will get an email directing him to upload the letter.

Many reasons interfolio is used (and by the way, I did use it). One of them is because some people are worried about not getting in the first time around.... Its easier for them to re-use letters for the next time they apply..... If you don't have interfolio or other document holder, you will have to physically obtain your letters again when you reapply. This could be a hassle (what if your professor is retired? fired? on vacation? not answering emails? etc).

My personal reason to using interfolio is to store these letters for life.... I'd like to keep these recommendations, they helped me get into dental school so... I'll keep them for personal satisfaction. Couple years ago when I signed up, it was like $40-50 for a 5 year membership, it was worth it.

Ah ok i get it. The reason why I was asking is because I asked a professor to write be a LOR and I don't want to ask him a year later when I actually apply to dental school because he obviously may have forgotten who I am or not write as good of a reference....now why don't you just keep your collection of LORs on your computer and then send when necessary? instead of paying (although not very much) for someone to do this for you?...doesn't it only take like 5 minutes?

Let's just make this simple:

1.) Ask people to write LORs. Tell them that they will get an email on June 1st with a link that will allow them to upload the letters to AADSAS.
2.) Done.

1.) like dw said, they are supposed to be confidential.
2.) you aren't paying anyone to do this. just do it through aadsas.
