DIT for step 2

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If it worked for you for step 1, it will probably work for you for step 2. However, for me, I really wish I had done other things in the 16 days that I did DIT. Our school required each student to do DIT and the consensus was very negative. However, it did work for some students. It works for you stick with it.

The lack of response may be bc few elected to do it again after the first time. I am not going to touch it for step 2.

That is crazy. I am glad our school doesn't try to do that crap.

I really think it depends on personal preference. I did it for step 1 and scored well so I decided to do it for step 2 as well. I liked it once again and did well. I also read MTB2.

how is DIT for step 2? is it worth doing it ? i used it for step 1 and it helped just wondering how it is for step 2 n if its worth doing it.

thank you in advance🙂

Snooze fest. Conrad Fisher's Kaplan videos stick in your mind a million times better. If you can't read a book, go kaplan.

Let me get this straight. You are paying $40,000 a year (presumably) for instruction at a medical school only to be required to pay an additional $800 to be taught by someone not employed by such school over the internet?

What the hell school do you go to?

I studied on my own with FA, and pathoma for Step I. Did average, 228, should've taken more time.

I'm trying to do a lot better on Step 2 so I got DIT. It is the biggest waste of $800. I transitioned to MTB2 and UWorld, doing much better on questions now, much better retention of the material. Not only do the DIT videos not stick in my head but the information they present in the videos doesn't really seem relevant to Step 2.

I would avoid DIT for step 2 at all costs. Go with something else.

Be thankful you didn't use it for step 1. I did and did worse. They throw the big caveat in at the beginning that their course only works if you use first aid and usmle world on your own time as well. Basically, they are saying that if you use first aid and usmle world (which is all you need for the exam), you will do well. Well, uh.... duh. The problem is that the videos and workbook take so long to get through that you don't have time to do usmle world and review first aid, so you don't do well. Additionally, you don't have any time to review any of the stuff they go over. Basically, you spend three weeks doing a first pass over all their material, and none of it sticks. You're then left with a few weeks to cram first aid. Better off just doing first aid and uworld from the beginning. Their concept is good, but it is totally incompatible with a 4-6 week study period most people have, and robs you of valuable qbank time. If you have a few months, go for it.

I think this is interesting. DIT probably works well for some people and not for others. I had 4.5 weeks to study and I did DIT, got through about 1/2 of UWorld and then re-read first aid once through and got a high score. I think DIT worked for me and so I was thinking about using it next year for Step II. I wonder why the program works well for some and not others? For me the questions kept me really engaged and I learned a ton from the videos. Also, every morning I would review the sections of first aid that were covered in the previous day videos... Maybe this solidified it for me? IDK.

One where the step 1 pass rate dropped into the 80s one year.

What is your approach this time?

It depends on how you learn. If you like to listen to someone, then DIT will be beneficial. It is no by means essential, but for me, even if I read something, it sometimes does not stick in my brain long. With DIT, it helps keep things in my brain longer and more organized so to speak. Some can do this by themselves without having to hear a lecture. it depends on you. Good luck

Did DIT for Step 2 work for anyone? Is it really that useless? I can't get my money back anymore and I have a terrible problem with organization when it comes to studying.

I don't like step up to step 2 as a book, but I am contemplating using the DIT course since I need a clear way of getting the info in my brain in an organized fashion.

I'm a terrible self studier. I just did the Uworld Self Assessment for Step 2 CK and got a 209 before studying so I was wondering which way got go? Never took USMLE Step 1 because I was getting 190's on NBME's.

Thanks guys

Do not forget that they require/recommend that you read the first seven chapters of ROBBINS PATHOLOGY. BEST LUCK
