Here's my situation. I have a B.S. in Business, but I want to go to LMU-DCOM.

uGPDA- 2.7
sGPA~ 3.5

I was going to try and get into the LMU Masters by Fall 2016, and that would give me a foot in the door with LMU-DCOM. However, I don't think I can really have all the pre-req work done by then, and do well on the MCAT in such a short time frame.

Should I skip the Master's and try to apply for the 2017 class? This way I will have more time to do well in my classes and take the MCAT.

I volunteer at a hospital here, and also scribe.

I realize I have a low GPA, but is it still possible to just apply straight to the program? I did fail OCHEM in my undergrad, so that grade will get replaced.

You mean the apply in 2017 for the class of 2021? Then, yes. Save time and a ton of money. Over the next year, take the necessary prerequisites, retake any classes in which you did poorly, and rock the MCAT. Your sGPA is already pretty decent, this shouldn't take you more than a year.

If you meet the minimum requirements on the master's program website, I would definitely apply for it even if you haven't had all your pre-reqs. You can finish your pre-reqs while in the program, and then once you get into DCOM the next year, you can continue to finish the courses needed to complete your master's degree. The Master's degree will be a huge advantage for you in the future when applying to residency programs. Contact Holly Napier (info on LMU's website) to discuss with her about your qualifications and application questions.
