I have a friend who wants to go to dental school and go for a OMS speciality at Baylor... does anyone know how it works. Is it four years of dental school and then 3 years of medical school. Do they graduate with a MD or is it just a certificate? Is it really hard to get into that program? Are they guaranteed a surgical residency and can they go into other surgical fields or just OMS? If anyone knows thanks for the info.

Yes - it is competitive.
6 years of Residency (with MD+cert) or 4 years residency (cert).

I love it when pre-dents already KNOW thay want to be an OMFS before they start dental school.
