Hey All.

i wuz wondering, if on the DMS secondary we wanted to talk about exp (mostly personal) not related at all to med, how well that would fly with the ad com?

any opinions???

Well, I think whatever you want to write about yourself should be fine; their sentence reads something like: "Please share with us something about yourself that is not addressed elsewhere in your application and which could be helpful to the Admissions Committee as we review your file."

To me, this is a good opener and you could write about your passion for horses and the time you spent in the 4-H club and what you learned from that experience and how you feel it has shaped you. Or something else about yourself that you feel you do really well, and which is maybe a little more personal.

This could be just about anything, really. I tried to treat mine more like a friendly conversation and wrote about some personal things that I think give a greater picture of who I am.

it sounds like the same question as last year. i talked about a few things that were important to me - a marathon i ran, a philanthropy i was involved with... nothing to do with medicine except a vague sentence or two but i guess it worked 🙂. as long as it fits together into something readable i don't think there are rules. from my interviews and the second look, it seems like they really want you to have something in your life besides medicine.

good luck!
