DMU Secondary

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I didn't put anything in the comments either...and I got an invite to interview about 5 days later for a month hence. I also was accepted as well. As long as you have a solid personal statement you should be golden. DMU is a good school. good luck

That secondary kind of ticks me off, I mean I'm glad it doesn't take that long to fill out, but they might as well ask you if you have changed your address and send them 50 dollars to continue considering you. This secondary bull$hit is a damn scheme.

You put why you want to go to that school in the comments section, what you like about that school, etc. It's probably not entirely necessary, but it can't hurt. I just got DMU today so I haven't researched the school yet...

The class of 2008 is practically overflowing. We had a lot more people who decided to matriculate then we had anticipated. Part of this probably has to due with the all technology on campus and the great new facilities that are being built. I think that the other factor is that the program is getting better and better. We have Dean Reed to thank for that. There are now ample opportunities to get involved with patient care in your preclinical years, get into a basic science lab for bench research or into a clinical setting for clinical research. You have a plethora of opportunities to broaden your horizons as a physician and as a person on campus. Not to mention that you have a really laid back student body who go out of their way to help their classmates out if they need it.

I think that it will be much harder to get in here next year. They will probably not be handing out as many acceptances next year. I think that you will see a lot more outright rejections and wait lists. Making it to the interview is good, but the big cull is going to happen after the interview. The ad-coms and the interviewers are going to look for reasons to exclude this coming year more then in years before. Remember that the interviews for DMU are open file, so we can see what you wrote in your application, more importantly what you didn?t write. It may look like apathy on your part to an interviewer.

Sorry for rambling?Good luck to those who are applying for 2009.
