I am starting my D.O. application process this weekend and it probably won't be finalized until 2-3 more weeks (I am anal). I have a 3.2 and a 27 and am from Missouri. My grade trend is pretty bad...didn't get better....just stayed in the B to B+ average throughout my college career. I just moved to New Orleans a few weeks ago. I have worked as an orderly and in the eeg and sleep fields through college with other good volunteer experiences. I will also get great LOR's from M.D.'s and I am going to shadow a D.O. this Thursday

I am applying to TUCOM, AZCOM, Western, and LECOM. Do any of you think I will even have a shot at getting in anywhere? Thanks for the feedback all. I am really nervous and should have started earlier.

I think that should be ok...your MCAT is definetly in the range (and better than mine) and your GPA is just below mine...and I've been told that i have a shot at DO. Again, this is what I was told by DO schools and other on SDN so its definitely not the final word... there is no harm in trying though. Good luck :luck:

Your numbers are better than mine were. I had a 3.19 Overall and a 25 J (apparently I am illiterate) and I got into KCOM in under a month of having all of my paperwork in. Just out of morbid curiosity, what was your undergrad and grad majors? Depending on the rigor of the program it could sway things in your favor.

Other things you may want to look at is how are you portraying the volunteer, work expierences and GPA trends. I hate to say this but you could have a load of crap and make it look good by the spin you put on it.

I would apply to KCOM as well. I spoke with representatives from several medical schools (doing recon) to find out what they were looking for. KCOM takes more into consideration than your numbers.

If there is any way I can help you out, just send me a PM and let me know.

Best of luck to you.

i'm a MSIV and my grades when applying to school were:
GPA 3.3 +/-
MCAT 27: V10 BS9 PS8
Worked as a medic for 4 years b-4 applying
only applied to DO schools
