DO application cycle questions

Guys I just started looking into DO schools and I was wondering what they are like. I was reading that the deadline is Feb 1, 2010. Does that mean that is the deadline for people starting in Sept 2010? or Sept 2011?

It is the deadline for people starting this fall, 2010. The applications open up in may i think for 2011.

For those of us hoping to start med school this fall, Fall 2010 the DO primary application (AACOMAS) opened up around June 1st 2009 and then secondary applications were sent out shortly after reciept of the primary (depending on the school). The deadline for sending in your AACOMAS is around Feb 1, 2010 and then the deadline for sending in your secondary is March 1, 2010 (again, varies with school).
Just so you know even though the deadline is much later than MD schools it is still vital that you apply early! I applied late although I've still gotten interview offers, I hate myself for it. I am very jealous of all the people who knew that they would be doing this fall back in Nov/Dec.

Some schools such as Western UOHS in Pomona, Los Angeles, CA have a $2000 deposit if you're accepted. If you're hoping for either an MD or DO spot like me, that's quite a lot of money to deposit while hoping for Harvard in March or MD schools that don't do rolling admissions.
