Hi everyone,
I just looked over the admissions requirements for some schools in California and I saw that many say you need a C or above. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that means you need to get at least a C for all classes or C average in a particular study area (i.e. Biology, Physics, Chemistry).

What worries me is that I had a C- in one of the physics series and I'm not sure if this will hinder me from acceptance in any dental school in California. I want to know if I need to retake this class again or am I okay to let it sly by if I want to apply to dental school in California?

you should call and ask the school since it is physics, but I think it is "C" or better for each individual pre-req

they did for me. I got a C- in orgo lab and got into 2 schools

wow just kidding... didn't see the california part.

As Predoctalk mentioned, the best thing is to call the school of your interest. I've interviewed at several schools, one of which is in CA, and they all came down to the same consensus of requiring C or above in all pre-req courses.

If you are already accepeted and you get a C- then they have the choice to keep you or drop you...

If you have a C- and are applying then I would re-take that unless all your other grades are perfect

I had almost all A's on my app. and in my interview I was asked what happened in the class I got a B- in!

I just got accepted to USC and I had a c- in my gen chem 1 class. All they told me to do was retake it before d school starts and get a c or better in it. But when I asked if it would affect my chances of getting an acceptance(at the interview), they told me that they dont take that c- into account because they assume that when you retake it you should be able to get a b or better

Thanks everyone for replying to this thread. I assume my best bet to d school is retaking the physics class I got a C- in this Fall quarter. But now I just worry about the deadline for d school applications submission and wonder if I would be able to submit my application in the beginning of 2011. *deep sigh*

Just turn in the application asap and when it is the time for the academic update in january, update your app with your new grade!
