Hello! I’m technically a reapplicant (though this is my first DO application). I was wondering what my chances for DO acceptances this time around and any suggestions for schools.
MCAT: 503 (retook on 5/24, waiting on scores)
From amcas last year:
sgpa: ~3.2
Non science: ~3.4
just graduated with MPH with a focus on epidemiology, biostatistics, and infectious diseases (gpa: ~3.9)
Shadowing: 40 hours with general surgeon (shadowing a pathologist and a DO emergency med doc within the next month, maybe a DO anesthesiologist too)
Research: >500 hours, 1 poster presentation at a national conference, currently working towards publication
Healthcare experience: working in a hospital lab for >2 years, 40 hours phlebotomy, part of my research involved performing MBS exams on patients and interacting with patient families
ECs: several clubs in undergrad that I was involved in executive board positions, was a student rep for a regional portion of a national society for lab science, 100s of hours of community service including working in a clothing/toy donation center, raising money for domestic violence victims, lots of walks, organizing monthly awareness campaigns for domestic violence, was a peer health educator for ~2 years which involved educating other students on safe sex, what to do if someone is impaired, prevention of violence, etc
As long as I didn’t bomb the MCAT, WAMC?
Thanks!!
