Hi all - I am a DO applying to anesthesia residencies this coming fall and am hoping to match somewhere in the Baltimore or Philadelphia areas. A few of my top choices have advanced spots only, so to even consider those programs I have to look at transitional years and IM prelims. I am a relatively competitive applicant for anesthesia with a 245 step 1, but I'm concerned about being able to match an intern year in the same city as my residency year as I have seen many of those positions go to candidates going into ophtho, rad onc etc. and have seen very few DOs in those spots. Its important to me to be as close as possible to my residency location as I am married, and would prefer not to move around any more than I have to.

I'd appreciate any advice or insight! Thanks!

Can you do a surgery prelim for anesthesia? Then no worries.
