I went to the army for lab tech school but didn't actually attend any university. however, the Army gave me credits from george washington university for the lab school. At the community college I did basic/core classes at, I sent them the GWU transcripts. Now that I enrolled at UTSA, I only sent them my community college transcripts. I didn't want anything from GWU going there since I didn't actually attend that school, and I don't want all those credits ruining my eligibility for financial aid and student loans. UTSA saw the credits on the community college transcript but only transferred over the basic training credits as physical ed credit. Everything else was thrown out and doesn't show at all on the UTSA transcripts.

Does the med school need transcripts from the army course? it was training; I didn't attend a university. Also, I don't think it is enough to be counted as "professional" schooling since it was just army training.

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Yes they do, they even "count" courses such as your AIT and others that do not even "transfer" to any school. You need to go to the AAMC website and look for the pdf file that explains the whole AMCAS processing to include how to put in grades etc...there is a large section for military folks. So if you are going to put on AMCAS that you were in the military you WILL have to include all courses to include military training AND CLEP just fyi. I am prior Army and this is what I had to do...

Perhaps I read into the sentence too much but, you said "if" I am going to put my military experience on AMCAS. Does that mean that it isn't absolutely necessary for me to report the military stuff?

And thanks for the speedy reply! Great help 🙂

Well sure, if you do not put it on there but why not? that is a major plus IMHO! then no you would not have to report stuff like basic training or AIT *but* if you took ANY classes either on-post at some satellite campus like U of Maryland in Germany OR you took classes long-distance via a school then YES you DO have to report because AMCAS wants all grades reported. So make sure that you read that pdf file from AMCAS because it will explain things much better than I can.

Well, thanks. I sure will look at the file closely and make sure I don't misrepresent myself when it's time to get everything in order. Thanks again!
