I heard a rumor that OOS-friendly dental schools will compare applicants from the same undergraduate university with each other.. Is this true? Do they want to make their schools "diverse" with people from a lot of different colleges/states, like some undergraduate institutions do? I find it hard to believe because my school is super diverse with people from all 50 states and many different countries... so accepting people from my school would still be satisfying their search for diversity because we're all from different states anyway..

None of us will know the true answer to this since we aren't the ADCOMs. This statement will most likely remain an unverified statement. Suggestion....stop worrying about others and worry about being the best possible candidate for admissions! No one will ever understand why dental schools accept applicants with a subpar GPA and DAT score because EVERY applicant is different and has something that sets them apart from others that ADCOMs like.

I'll just say it's natural to compare applicants from the same school (and majors), even with people from that school who matriculated to our program. But I haven't been in a situation where we are splitting hairs between applicants from the same school or major.

Thanks Dr. Chuck, just an FYI, some of the links in your signature are not working.

I think yes to an extent, but that doesn't stop them from picking multiple people from the same school.

I know over 7 people coming from my university going to UoP this year.
