I gotten a couple supplemental applications , does that mean anything or is it another way to screw me for money. I guess what am saying is does everyone get them or do they reveal something about your status and potential getting in that school . yet to take the DAT

as far as I know, you have to pay the supplemental fee in order for them to review your application/invite you to an interview...

some schools have supplemental apps. that are very important from what I hear...

i submitted on the 28 of may , but from what am hear supplemental don't mean sh$t

yea i e-submitted mine on the 28th as well and received many supplemental applications. I sure hope they dont mean shiz cause im sick of filling them out, especially when more than half of the questions are on my AADSAS application already.

okay another Q, achiever is way to hard has anyone who has taken the DAT agree. I mean i can't scratch 20 on anything unless i already took it, wtf. anyways takes for the quick replies

It depends. Everyone gets a supplemental application regardless. It asks for the same info you already provided in your AADSAS application, plus some essay prompts, plus the all important supplemental fee.

If a member of an admissions committee takes an initial look at your AADSAS info and is interested in you, then they'll review your supplemental application.

But if that person is unimpressed upon initial review of your AADSAS info, then your supplemental application is probably just a formality.

UNC looks at their's very seriously. Frustratingly, a lot of the questions are the same ones you answered on AADSAS, so you're like "What the hell? I just answered this!," but they tend to pay much more attention to your answers on their supplemental. One nice thing is that the supplemental gives you more space to explain yourself and why you want to be at their school in particular. You can tailor that app to that school which gives you an edge in expressing your enthusiasm for why you applied there.

That being said for the supplementals where essays are required, I hated the ones that were just "Send us money and don't explain yourself any further."

Not all supplemental apps are sent out to every applicant. I remember only getting one after I received an interview at a school. However, the supplementals the OP have gotten are probably the standard 'send all apps to all applicants' kind of supplemental since he/she does not have DAT scores yet.

Try viewing the supplemental as another chance to allow a school to better know you. The AADSAS is pretty thorough, but this is your opportunity to fill in all the blanks, and allow some personality to show through too!

Actually, everyone doesn't get a supplemental application. A person can be rejected prior to the school sending out supplemental applications. Some schools have applicants fill out the secondary app. at the interview. Some also selectively send out supplemental apps.

If you want to be seriously considered as an applicant, you had better fill out the supplemental app. Alot of times, they use these in the interviews to ask questions. Alot of schools have application fees, they won't review your material until the check is cashed. Meaning you file will sit in a pile until they have your money. Is it a way to get more money out of you? Possibly. But processing your information etc. isn't exactly free on their part. The school incurs some cost in processing your file. If not anything, it takes time. Time is money. So why should they do it for free? But if you want a chance to be accepted, you better cough up the cash.

Also, your application is not considered complete until they have all required materials including the supplemental app. So again, they won't review your info until the checklist is complete.

the entire UCLA supp is like 13 pages of **** you already entered in AADSAS.

Its just an excuse to charge an application fee.
