So this another one of those do I have a shot at EM posts. So here it goes.

I am a DO student, lower half of class, 86% avg, with research, lots of ECs, and 7 years experience as a ED RN. If I score avg to a bit above avg on the comlex, is it worth applying to DO EM programs? I have a number of ED docs that I have worked with who have written great LOCs.

What do you think?

Pass everything (COMLEX, rotations, classes) on the first try. Do a few EM rotations at residency programs and show that you can work hard, work well with others, and aren't a medical idiot (they won't expect you to know everything, but you should know basics). You'll at least be in the running if you can do these things.

Alright, another ED RN to DO! Welcome to the club 👍

I agree with the reply above -board scores/etc may get you in the door, but a strong rotation at a residency can open more doors than anything else and will go farther for securing you a spot than any letter or number on your application.

Best of luck!
