Do expired MCATS count?

for example, I take the MCAT this summer. I have two years of undergrad left. Let's say I do poorly (god forbid!). if I take a gap year before applying, my MCAT will have expired for some schools. if I retake the mcat then.. will the schools even look or account for the expired MCAT? like, some schools will average all your mcat scores or request you send in all of them. Will they still if it's expired
 
All your MCAT scores are automatically available on the AMCAS regardless of age (I had one show up that was almost 9 years after my application date). How the schools look at them is up to the school.
 
FWIW, a lot of schools would still accept that MCAT. I took the MCAT the summer before my junior year (2012), applied this cycle, currently only waitlisted, will be reapplying, and all the schools I've looked at will take that MCAT, since it's 3 years or less prior to intended matriculation (2015).
