I want to apply to my top choice school EDP to save money on apps and travel.

What happens if I'm accepted but decide not to attend that school?

Did you even read what you were getting into with EDP? If you didn't you don't deserve an acceptence. This post doesn't deserve a response, but the answer is YES!

If you decide not to enroll at that school, you have to wait out a year and apply again. Good luck gettin in then.

Why would you decide to not go to your top choice school? You sound like you need to contemplate this whole process a little... 🙄

Yeah if you get in EDP and decide not to go, you'd probably just want to go ahead and buy a plane ticket to the carribean. No U.S. school would take a chance on you after you broke your signed agreement to attend X school.

I concur. Or at very least harass you at every interview you go to afterwards.

Actually, they force you to pay tuition for that first year and they can still take legal action against you.

WTF has the world turned to that people can take legal agreements and throw them out the window?

Hi Dan,
Um, you should always make sure that your top choice is really your top choice when you designate that you want to do EDP. If you get in...sweet...you get to go to your top choice. If not, then on October 1, you pick new schools that you want your AMCAS to go to. So, it puts you at a little disadvantage with the other schools.

People can get a bit rude with posts, but the beginning of the app cycle is frustrating and stressful for most people, so that's why you have all the flaming in the other responses to your post.

But, it just seems strange that you would decide not to go to your first choice.

If you didn't want to go there.......why did you apply EDP?

Are you that stupid?

Easy, tiger. Read the post before blasting the dude(tte). The OP said, "I want to apply to my top choice EDP, which indicates em has not yet done so.

Yeah, but this is still a dumb ass thread. If the OP has any doubt, than the OP should not apply EDP, that's just plain stupid, not to mention selfish.

That's sort of the whole point of EDP. It's not just a convenient way for you to get your answer sooner & save on application costs. It's a promise to that school to definitely go there if accepted, and if you go that route you need to honor that promise.

I did not notice this at first. Good eye, samurai.

Except for that, though, why did this thread go on?

Because people love a pile-on?

The way it sounds is that you don't really have a first choice because if you did, you wouldn't be considering turning it down. Thus don't bother with EDP and apply to many schools. The process is expensive but it's a drop in a bucket compared to how the rest of your life will play out based on this decision.

Whats EDP? sorry :S

Early Decision Program

Not all schools have it. Normally there is one seat reserved for this.
