I took my MCAT in October and I scored a 26 (VR=8, PS=8 and BS=10). I was pretty disappointed in my score considering how much I studied, but I really don't want to take it again... especially since I have to take the new one. I was never great at standardized testing.I have a 4.0 GPA and I think I have pretty good ECs.

  • Applying to summer internships
What should I do?

Unless you live in a lucky state like LA or AR, a 26 is lethal for MD schools and even some DO schools will turn you down.

Mastering standardized tests is a necessary skill for med school; we're addicted to them.

Suggest a retake, or apply broadly to DO schools. Skip Western, AZCOM, the NY and CA Touros, and CCOM.

Yeah, you are good for DO schools. You could apply to your in-state MD school(s), unless you live in CA, but you might not have much luck. I think it's worth a try, though. I know a few people who have gotten in with MCATs lower than your's to their in-state MD school.
