Hi everyone, I was looking through my current stats and I was wondering if medical school is even a possibility for me. Academically, my overall GPA is only a 3.3, with a science of 3.0 (Cell & Molecular Biology BS). I plan on taking the new MCAT in a few months or so. Extracurricular-wise, I've volunteered in my local hospital and library throughout high school and college. I'm also currently interning at another regional hospital every week. I've also volunteered overseas in Guatemala for a summer in the medical clinics. Along with that, I'm also shadowing a physician in my school health center. I've also done research for a year, as well as getting it published (co-authored). I know my academic stats aren't the greatest, but is there any chance I would even be called in for an interview by any DO school? Caribbean is also an option.

PS: I don't plan on a post-bac or Masters.

Caribbean should never be an option!

Your question can't be answered without an MCAT. Doing well enough on that will mitigate the grades a lot. Otherwise, your odds would benefit greatly from retaking the lowest of your science grades, which you can do at a cheap public (or even community) school.

No chance w/o an MCAT score. Get a 30 or above and you should have a good shot at landing an acceptance [somewhere].

The science GPA will get you screened out of a few secondaries (such as KCU) and a few interviews. As @efle already noted, we can't give more solid advice on your chances without and MCAT score.

All the ECs in the world won't forgive a subpar MCAT score.

You will be hurting your chances for not taking advantage of grade replacement in the DO application process...which means a post bac would be in order.

Caribbean is a no go.
