Do I have a chance ???

Wrong section, but where are you from? Are you a minority?

I only had 6 weeks to prepare for it and didn't take any practice tests before the real MCAT test.

So why did you take it then? I'd imagine the 121 in CARS will essentially get you screened out of most, if not all schools.

Hello, this is my first time posting and I wanna know If I have at least a 1% chance of getting into a med school (MD program).

cGPA 3.96 - (only one B+ in my whole undergrad career)
MCAT 497 🙁
-Phy/chem 128
-Bio/Biochem 125
-CARS 121
-Psych/Soc 123
I only had 6 weeks to prepare for it and didn't take any practice tests before the real MCAT test.

ECs and experiences:
-Tutoring science subjects - 250 hrs
-Volunteering at a cancer center - 200 hrs (staying next year)
-Research in cardiovascular diseases - 1 yr
-Active member of a science club

Should I give it a try this cycle or consider retaking the MCAT and apply next year????
Honestly, your CARS is almost rock bottom so thats probably a no. You need to take ~ 5 practice exams before the mcat and make time to study. Its very important. I would say that your chances of MD school are very low unless you live in a "lucky" state and you are a minority. You have a chance at DO but not a very good one at that. You are going to have to score 508+ next time around to make up for this score. People have gotten in to DO schools with your stats every year but i doubt with a 121 in cars

I am not a minority and I live in Michigan.
I wouldnt bother applying MD. DO is a shot in the dark. I feel like you could be a POD. Thats a really good option and you have the scores for that. But if you scored a 497 without much prep, you should be able to score alot better with prep

With that gpa and your experiences, you are doing yourself a disservice applying now to avoid taking a gap year in my opinion.

You need to retake the MCAT. Study 3 months in advance and don't take the test until you are consistently getting your target score on practice tests. Also you could use some nonclinical volunteering.

Any shadowing? How about service to those less fortunate than yourself? And why did you take the MCAT with so little prep? As @Goro always says "it's a high stakes exam that will determine the rest of your life". I doubt you'll have any luck with MD schools and not much at DO schools. Take a gap year, fill in the gaps in your app and study hard for the MCAT. Do not retake until you are consistently scoring near your target goal(maybe 510+) on FL practice tests. You really can't afford another awful MCAT score.

In your case I recommend retaking the MCAT no later than May 2018. Do not retake until your practice scores are consistently greater than 508. Then you would be competitive for many MD schools and all DO schools in the 2018-2019 cycle.
