Hey everyone,
I am a 26 yr Canadian Citizen with a Bs in Radiation Therapy. I have a Science gpa of 3.1 and overall of 3.2. My Mcat this part August did not go too well, I feel I scored between 21-25. The rest of my application is extremely satisfactory with voluneteer and hospital experience.
Another thing is that I took my Orgo I & II at a Community College, you think that would matter or lowers the standards of my app.

WIth this all being said, you think I have a chance?

Thanks

Yes you have a chance. I'd say you have a fairly good chance at that. Obviously the higher you scored on the MCAT, the greater your chances become. You'll have a better idea once you get your scores back. It shouldn't matter that you took ochem at a CC, but there are adcoms out there who would frown upon that (and they are called d****s)

i think you have a chance...always think positive and it will show in your application. i'm a firm believer of that your numbers do not define you whether you got a 22 mcat or 32 mcat...you still have to prove your dedication for medicine. =)

😎 I have a feeling that I DO have a chance, but I'd have to wait 1 -2 yrs for potential acceptance. Meanwhile, I have been applying to Carribean schools, and got accepted in a couple of them already for Jan 07.
Iam in a huge interpersonal debate now of whether I should start in Jan in carribean or wait another 2 yrs to try my chances with DO schools in the U.S. 😕

if i was in your shoes and believed I could work hard and also kick butt on teh USMLEs then I would go carib. But I'm not sure you can say you would rock the USMLEs if you didnt rock the MCAT, so it might be wise to take the safer (US DO) route.

So if I go to Carribean, I would have to score much higher on USMLE's then if I went to a DO school??

Iam not aiming at extremely competitive residencies. But the only thing I am fighting is time. I am 26 now, havent taken my MCAT, and therefore I won't be able to apply until the 2008 class, where I will be 28. I have wasted a lot of time already, thats why I am considering the Carribeans now and start as soon as Jan 07.
