Hi, I haven't been on this site before so I am unaware if there are good/bad ways to get advice so if I'm doing this wrong please forgive.

I am in nursing school, finishing up my masters in health studies and 100% sure that I should have gone medicine. I spoke with my advisor and she didn't have much advice. I have a low gpa (combined around a 3.1) and have never taken the MCAT. I am planning on finishing up my masters in december and nursing in may2011 but want to start doing courses for medical school. I still need the require org 1 & 2 and plan on taking several upper level bio courses.
Does anyone have advice on if I have a chance or what else I should do?

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not wondering if i should pursue this, what I'm doing now is not what I was suppose to do and I believe strongly that medicine is. I would really really appreciate your comments. Thanks and God Bless!

Your masters degree GPA isn't really regarded much in the allopathic med school application process. If you divide out your coursework into undergrad and grad credits, what is the GPA for your undergrad work alone? How many undergrad crdits do you already have, and how many more do you plan to complete? I'm asking this so we can determine precisely what kind of GPA repair needs to be done.

I would recommend also start doing some clinical volunteering so when you apply you will have a nice amount there.

You need to take more undergrad classes to bring that GPA up. So give us credit hrs you have and GPA. Masters is a different GPA.

DO school is very receptive to people with other health degree (RN, pharmacy, etc) who wants to become doctor. You should really look into that if you want to become a doctor in the near future. I say a year off to work on the prereq classes, take the MCAT and then apply to DO school. Plus your GPA is competitive for DO school.

good luck!
