Do I have a shot at UMDNJs program

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was accepted into the one in Stratford. My Mcat is higher than that, but I was also concerned and asked them what the average is. They said it was in the low 20's for people who take the thesis option, even lower for those who take a non-thesis option. Your gpa is fine also..try calling them and asking its worth knowing for sure before you apply.

Hope this helps

my overall gpa is 2.99 but I have a huge upward trend
science gpa is 3.3
19 mcat
also im a jersey resident

Would UMDNJ accept me?

I can't say with certainty that UMDNJ-Newark or Stratford will accept you, but, you definitely have a good shot. Some of my classmates have very similar stats and are obviously here, if that gives you any indication. If you can, make an appointment to speak to the program director (not sure if you applied to Newark or Stratford) either in phone or in person to discuss your application.

Contact Info:

Newark (not sure who the program director is)
(973) 972-4511 [email protected]

Stratford (program director: Dr. Diane Worrad)
(856) 566-6282 [email protected]

Good luck!

I have just now sent in my final application for Newark. I met someone this past weekend who is premed and doing the MBS at GSBS in newark this yr. He seemed to think that many of the students have been getting acceptances/interviews. But also he said it is not just premed students in the program, but pre-dental and phd students as well. They don't have any kind of special agreement with the med school where if we get a certain gpa in the master's program we'll get an interview, but i'm hoping attending the program will enhance my chances of getting into NJMS the following year! Anyone else know any more about this program?
