Hey guys, so I shadowed a couple of doctors way back freshman year of college, about like 7-8 years Ago now. It was a pretty good first experience so I briefly mentioned in my PS and was looking to include it in my shadowing activities in W&A. The thing is tho, this happened so long ago I have no idea if the physicians will remember who I am and I don't really have any verification documentation or anything. Should I go ahead and include the activities or nah?

Do you have other in person shadowing that is more recent? You have mentioned it in your personal statement and it was a long time ago, I think I’d leave it. But you should have some more recent in person shadowing including some with a primary care doc. Things have changed a lot in the way docs practice medicine in 8 years.

If you have other more-recent shadowing, you can tack mention of the long-ago shadowing onto the end of the entry, eg, "Also in 2013, 19 hours of observing a family practice doc and a neonatologist. (Included in the total hours above.)," without including Contacts.

If you have no other shadowing, include it. Sometimes a reader will scan the tags on the W&A section looking for shadowing and if it isn't there, that's a ding on your application.
Okay thank you! Because of COVID-19 and picking up clinical volunteer stuff, I only have one recent shadowing that I will put down and just tack on these experiences like you guys suggested. thanks!! If anyone else wanna put their 2 cents in, always eager to listen.

Hi there, technically, this entry is allowed in the W & A sketch but you will need contact information. I would suggest calling the clinic/hospital first, as these hours may be verified if this is its own section, so you will need to include the contact details. Remember that you have only 15 activities, and if you have other, more recent clinical experiences and shadowing, it would be better to include those. You will also need to write out your roles and responsibilities and any major lessons learned, so if including this, I suggest reflecting on how this activity inspired you further (perhaps it was an inspiration to continue on the medical track, as it happened so early).
However, similar to what others have suggested, you may want to include it in your other shadowing experience. I you do that, you can show how you were inspired and then explain the main lesson learned from the more recent shadowing.
