hi,guys. first time to post here🙂

I am an international student。
my boyfriend want to pursue his phD in the US so now he is trying to apply for 2007fall admission.
I'm also qualified to apply a phD program. but i'm not really interested in research. I'm thinking of applying dental school.

if I go to US with a F2 visa. Will I be qualified to apply dental school? I think I will have no problem with DAT. But I do not have a US degree and my undergradute GPA is not so good (i don't know exactly, but it should be above 3.0).

or I should apply a program myself and get a US degree first? in this case, I have to prepare for DAT and get good GPA during my master study.

which way is better?

Well, its very difficult and very competitive for foreigners to get a spot in a US dental school.. If your undergraduate GPA is around 3.0, I wouldnt expect to be accepted (its hard enough if you're a citizen of the US to get in with that GPA)..

Depending on your GPA, I would go back and boost it with classes in the US..

Dont really know what to tell you..Post in the international forum would be best..

Thank you, I'll post it there🙂

Not knowing where you obtained your degree from, its hard to say, but if English is not your first language then it would be VERY difficult for you to get into a US dental school. They would love it if you got your degree from the US to show that you have a understanding of english.

A degree is only a requirement at a handful of schools.

Hello, It's first post...
Yeah, you have to take at least 90 credits in USA or Canada even though you already got your bachlor's degree or above from your own country.

Thank you all🙂

people here are so nice.

now I know what i should do. but taking master course, preparing DAT, doing TA/RA job, working in the clinic. I don't know whether i can handle all these.

you need to take prerequisite (different classes required) in undergraduate (not in master programs or PH D). After you got the credits for prerequisite, then you might take advanced courses in master programs or PH D,but I am not quite sure this part. Check this out!!
